Church of the Nativity of Christ

One of the most valuable landmarks in Arbanasi is the Church of the Nativity of Christ. The church was built in the second half of the 16th century and in the decades that followed, it was expanded and richly decorated with frescoes. Its ensemble of murals is among the most impressive examples of ecclesiastical art preserved in Arbanasi. From the outside, the building has a relatively modest appearance, but the interior impresses with its numerous murals and religious scenes, making the church a must-see when visiting the village.

Konstantsalieva house

The Konstantzalieva House is one of the most remarkable examples of Arbanasi’s distinctive residential architecture. It is among the well-preserved mansions from the village’s economic heyday and now serves as a museum. The massive structure, the high stone walls, and the interior layout offer a glimpse into the lifestyle of Arbanasi’s wealthy families. A visit here is a great way to get an up-close look at the village’s history and way of life.

Churches and monasteries

Arbanasi also established itself as an important Orthodox center. Between the 16th and 18th centuries, seven churches were built and iconographically decorated here, including the Church of the Nativity of Christ, the Church of Sts. Michael and Gabriel the Archangels, the Church of St. Demetrius, the Church of St. George, and the Church of St. Athanasius.
