The town is known as a spa resort thanks to its 17 mineral springs, which provide excellent conditions for spa and climate therapy. Near Dobrinishte is the chairlift to Bezbog Hut, while a ski slope connects Bezbog Hut with Gotse Delchev Hut. This makes Dobrinishte an important ski center in the Pirin Mountains.
The history of Dobrinishte dates back to the Neolithic period, around 6200-5500 BC, long before the Thracians appeared in these lands. Archaeological excavations have uncovered remains of ancient dwellings, stone tools, as well as significant finds of Roman and Thracian pottery and coins dating from the reign of Emperor Nero. Between the 7th and 14th centuries, Dobrinishte was a fortified settlement and fortress that helped stop Byzantine forces.
