Kazanlak is one of the most interesting towns in central Bulgaria, located in the heart of the Rose Valley and close to the Balkan Mountains. The town is known for its beautiful nature, rich historical heritage, and traditions related to the cultivation of oil-bearing roses and the production of rose oil.
Kazanlak is situated approximately 200 km from Sofia and about 100 km from Plovdiv, making it a convenient destination for a road trip. Thanks to its location, the town is also an excellent starting point for exploring various historical and natural attractions in the region.
One of Kazanlak’s most famous landmarks is the Kazanlak Thracian Tomb, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Other notable attractions in and around the town include the Iskra Historical Museum, the Rose Museum, the Shipka Memorial Church, and the Shipka National Park-Museum.
The area around Kazanlak also offers numerous opportunities for nature walks, visits to historical sites, and discovering local traditions. A particularly interesting time to visit is the beginning of summer, when events related to the Rose Festival and the rose harvest take place.
